BV Holdings Agro exports Cameroon animal feed ingredients to feed mills, livestock integrators, premix makers and commodity traders. Our range covers five lines: soybean meal, palm kernel cake, yellow maize, rice bran and cocoa shells. Each lot is tested against your contract and loaded at Douala or Kribi on FOB, CFR or CIF terms.
Most of these products are by-products or staples of Cameroon’s own farm chains. Soy and maize come from the north and the western highlands. Palm kernel cake and cocoa shells come from the humid south. Meanwhile, rice bran comes from the rice mills of the Far North, North and North-West. We buy Cameroon animal feed ingredients from producers, mills and aggregators, then consolidate lots for export.
This hub helps you build a feed sourcing plan from one origin. First, it compares the five lines by energy, protein and fibre. Then it covers specifications, testing, packing, documents, pricing and ordering.
Cameroon animal feed ingredients at a glance
The table below lists the five Cameroon animal feed ingredients we offer. Each name links to its own product page with a full typical specification and FAQ.
| Ingredient | HS code | Role in feed | Main regions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soybean Meal | 2304.00 | Main protein source | Adamawa, North, West, North-West |
| Palm Kernel Cake | 2306.60 | Energy, fibre and moderate protein | Littoral, South-West, Centre, South |
| Yellow Maize | 1005.90 | Main energy grain | West, North-West, Adamawa, North, Centre |
| Rice Bran | 2302.40 | Energy from oil, plus fibre | Far North, North, North-West |
| Cocoa Shells | 1802.00 | Fibre source; limited inclusion | Centre, South, South-West, East, Littoral |
In short, maize brings energy and soybean meal brings protein. The other three lines fill gaps in fibre, energy and cost. As a result, together they cover much of a basic ration.
Where Cameroon animal feed ingredients come from
Cameroon’s climate zones give its feed chain unusual variety. Each of our Cameroon animal feed ingredients follows a different crop and a different processing route.
Northern and highland crops
Yellow maize grows across the West, North-West, Adamawa, North and Centre regions. In the south, there are two seasons, about July to August and November to December. In the north, the main harvest runs from about September to November. Soybeans grow in Adamawa, the North and the western highlands, often in rotation with maize. Crushers then press or extract the beans to make soybean meal.
Southern palm and cocoa belts
Palm kernel cake is the meal left when crushers press palm kernels for oil. It comes from the oil palm belt in the Littoral, South-West, Centre and South. Cocoa shells, meanwhile, are the thin husk removed when cocoa beans are roasted and winnowed. They come from the cocoa chain across the forest regions.
Rice-milling zones
Rice bran is the outer layer removed when brown rice is milled white. It comes from mills serving the Logone plains in the Far North and the Ndop plain in the North-West, plus smaller zones in the North. Our Cameroon Harvest Calendar shows the main seasons for every crop we ship.

Typical specification for Cameroon animal feed ingredients
Each of our Cameroon animal feed ingredients has its own detailed table on its product page. However, the summary below lets you compare the key nutrients quickly.
| Ingredient | Crude protein | Crude fat | Crude fibre | Moisture |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soybean meal | 44–48% solvent; 40–44% expeller | 1–3% solvent; 5–8% expeller | ≤ 7% | ≤ 12% |
| Palm kernel cake | 14–17% | 7–10% | 15–20% | ≤ 12% |
| Yellow maize | 8–10% | By lot | By lot | ≤ 14% |
| Rice bran (full-fat) | 11–14% | 12–18% | 8–12% | ≤ 12% |
| Cocoa shells | 13–18% | 2–6% | 14–20% | ≤ 10% |
Aflatoxin is tested to your limit on request for meal, cake, maize and bran. For yellow maize, a typical feed limit is 20 ppb maximum, or your own limit. Final specifications are confirmed in each contract and verified before loading.
How to choose Cameroon animal feed ingredients
Every species and production stage needs a different mix. These quick picks match common feed needs to the right line.
- Poultry and pig rations: yellow maize for energy plus soybean meal for protein, the classic base.
- Dairy and beef cattle: palm kernel cake as a lower-cost energy and fibre source.
- Cost-cutting in ruminant feed: rice bran, which adds energy from its oil.
- Fibre for ruminants or mulch blends: cocoa shells, at limited inclusion rates.
- Aquafeed: soybean meal as a plant protein, with maize or bran as a binder and energy source.
Palm kernel cake or soybean meal?
This is the most common question from feed buyers. Soybean meal has much more protein, so it suits monogastric animals such as poultry and pigs. Palm kernel cake, by contrast, has more fibre and fat. As a result, it fits ruminants best. Our PKC vs Soybean Meal guide compares the two in detail.
A note on cocoa shells
Cocoa shells contain theobromine, a natural compound also found in chocolate. Some animals tolerate it poorly, so nutritionists cap inclusion rates. Many feed rules also set maximum theobromine levels. For this reason, please discuss species and inclusion with your nutritionist before you order.
Building a ration from Cameroon animal feed ingredients
Few mills buy just one ingredient. Instead, most combine an energy source, a protein source and some fibre. So it helps to see how Cameroon animal feed ingredients fit together.
- Energy base: yellow maize supplies starch, the main fuel in most poultry and pig diets.
- Protein: soybean meal balances the low protein of maize and supplies key amino acids.
- Lower-cost energy and fibre: palm kernel cake and rice bran can replace part of the maize in ruminant feed.
- Extra fibre: cocoa shells add bulk at limited rates, where species and feed rules allow.
Of course, your nutritionist sets the final formula. However, buying several lines from one origin can simplify logistics. For example, you can plan maize and soybean meal on one contract, with staggered shipment windows. As a result, you deal with one supplier, one document style and one inspection company.
Mixed loads
Some buyers want to trial two ingredients before committing to full containers. In that case, ask about splitting a container between two bagged lines. We confirm whether a mixed load is possible for your lots in the offer.

Quality control for Cameroon animal feed ingredients
Feed safety starts long before the mill, so we treat Cameroon animal feed ingredients with the same care as food crops. We follow five checkpoints for every lot. Our quality control page explains the full method.
- Buy in region: we buy from known producers, crushers and mills.
- Dry and store: lots rest off the ground in covered warehouses at target moisture.
- Sample and test: we test each lot against the contract specification.
- Clean, sort and pack: lots are packed in new export-marked bags with a lot number.
- Inspect and load: independent inspection and fumigation where required, then loading at Douala or Kribi.
What we test
Moisture and foreign matter are checked on every lot. For maize, meal, cake and bran, aflatoxin is the key safety test, measured against your destination limit. Protein, fat and fibre can be tested on request. In addition, soybean meal can be checked for urease activity, which shows whether the meal was heated enough.
Buyers may nominate an inspection company, such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or Cotecna. Therefore, an independent inspector can confirm weight and quality before loading.
Why moisture and heat matter
Warm, damp feed grows mould fast, and some moulds make aflatoxins. Rice bran has a further risk, because its oil can turn rancid quickly after milling. So we keep lots dry, move them promptly and test close to loading.
Uses and industries
Cameroon animal feed ingredients reach many kinds of buyers. Each one uses them in a different way.
- Compound feed mills: they blend maize, meal and cake into complete rations.
- Poultry and pig integrators: they run their own mills and buy maize and soybean meal in bulk.
- Dairy and beef farms: they buy palm kernel cake and rice bran as direct supplements.
- Aquafeed makers: they use soybean meal as a plant protein in fish and shrimp feed.
- Feed traders: they buy origin lots to blend and resell in their regions.
Cocoa shells also have non-feed uses, such as garden mulch and biomass fuel. So they suit some buyers outside the feed trade too.
Packaging, loading and container capacity
We pack Cameroon animal feed ingredients in new export-marked bags. Containers are clean, dry and odour-free. The table shows typical packing and approximate loads.
| Ingredient | Typical packing | Approx. load per 20ft |
|---|---|---|
| Soybean meal | 50 kg PP bags | About 18–20 tonnes |
| Palm kernel cake | 50 kg PP bags or bulk in lined containers | About 16–18 tonnes |
| Yellow maize | 50 kg PP bags; liner bags for bulk by agreement | About 22–25 tonnes |
| Rice bran | 50 kg PP bags | About 10–13 tonnes (light, bulky) |
| Cocoa shells | PP bags, jumbo bags or bulk liner | Bulky; 40ft high-cube often preferred |
These loads are approximate industry norms. Light, bulky products such as bran and shells fill space before weight. For this reason, a 40ft high-cube often gives a better cost per tonne. We confirm the figure for your lot in the offer.
We load at Douala or Kribi and quote FOB, CFR or CIF. Fumigation is carried out where the destination requires it.
Export documents and compliance
Each shipment of Cameroon animal feed ingredients travels with a full document set. The exact list depends on the ingredient and the destination. Our export documents page explains every document.
- Commercial invoice and packing list.
- Bill of lading.
- Phytosanitary certificate from MINADER plant protection, where required.
- Certificate of origin.
- Weight and quality certificate from the agreed inspection company.
- Fumigation certificate where required.
- Lab reports, such as aflatoxin, pesticide residue or nutrient analysis, where agreed.
Buyer-country rules
Feed markets set limits for aflatoxin, residues and some natural compounds. In addition, soy and palm products, including soybean meal and palm kernel cake, fall under the EU Deforestation Regulation. The European Commission EUDR page sets out the current rules. So tell us your destination early, and we will discuss which tests and data each lot needs.
We do not claim organic or other certified status for our lots. However, company registration and export documents are provided during supplier onboarding on request.
How pricing works for Cameroon animal feed ingredients
We quote Cameroon animal feed ingredients per lot and per date, not from a fixed list. Feed prices move with grain and oilseed markets. Several factors shape each offer.
- World markets: maize and soybean meal futures set the tone for feed values.
- Nutrient value: buyers often price meal by protein and cake by energy and fibre.
- Local demand: Cameroon’s own poultry and livestock sector competes for maize and meal.
- Bulk density: light products cost more per tonne to ship.
- Incoterm: CFR and CIF add freight and, for CIF, insurance.
To get a sharp offer, give us as much detail as you can. For example, state the protein, fat, fibre and aflatoxin limits you need. Also name your destination port and shipment window. A clear brief lets us match the right lot faster.
Payment terms are agreed per contract. The Food and Agriculture Organization publishes useful data on world feed and grain markets.
How to order Cameroon animal feed ingredients
Ordering follows six clear steps. Our export process page explains each one.
- 1. Inquiry: you send the ingredient, spec, volume, port and Incoterm.
- 2. Offer and sample: we send a written offer and, where possible, a sample.
- 3. Contract: we both sign the spec, price, Incoterm, payment terms, inspection method and shipment window.
- 4. Payment security: you arrange the agreed instrument.
- 5. Preparation and inspection: we prepare, test and inspect the lot.

FAQ
Which Cameroon animal feed ingredients do you supply?
We supply soybean meal, palm kernel cake, yellow maize, rice bran and cocoa shells. Soybean meal and maize come from the north and the western highlands. Palm kernel cake and cocoa shells come from the humid south. Rice bran comes from rice-milling zones. Each line has its own product page with a typical specification, so you can compare them.
What is the minimum order?
Orders start from one 20ft container per line. However, the tonnage in that container varies a lot. For example, yellow maize fills a 20ft at about 22 to 25 tonnes, while rice bran reaches only about 10 to 13 tonnes. We confirm the exact load in the offer. A 40ft high-cube can lower the cost per tonne for bulky lines.
Do you test Cameroon animal feed ingredients for aflatoxin?
Yes, on request. We test maize, meal, cake and bran against your destination limit. For yellow maize, a typical feed limit is 20 ppb maximum, or your own limit. You can also nominate an independent lab or inspection company. In addition, we store lots dry and off the ground to lower the risk of mould.
Should I buy palm kernel cake or soybean meal?
It depends on the animals you feed. Soybean meal has far more protein, so it suits poultry, pigs and fish. Palm kernel cake has more fibre and fat, which suits cattle and other ruminants. Many mills use both, at different rates. Our comparison guide explains the trade-offs, and we can quote the two together.
Is your soybean meal solvent or expeller?
Both types can be offered, by lot. Solvent-extracted meal usually has 44% to 48% protein and low fat. Expeller meal, meanwhile, has 40% to 44% protein and more fat. Each offer states the type for that lot. We can also test urease activity to confirm the meal was heated correctly before you sign.
Can cocoa shells go into any feed?
Not without care. Cocoa shells contain theobromine, which some animals tolerate poorly. So nutritionists cap inclusion rates, and many feed rules set maximum theobromine levels. Please check species and inclusion with your nutritionist before ordering. Cocoa shells also suit non-feed uses, such as mulch and biomass fuel, if feed use does not fit.
Are Cameroon animal feed ingredients covered by EUDR?
Some are. Soybean meal and palm kernel cake are soy and oil palm products, so they fall under the EU Deforestation Regulation. Cocoa shells are a cocoa product and are covered too. Maize and rice bran are not on the current list. Please raise your needs at inquiry stage, so we can discuss what data a lot can carry.
Can I get a sample of Cameroon animal feed ingredients before I sign?
Yes. Samples and offers follow an inquiry. Send us the ingredient, spec, volume, destination port and Incoterm. We will reply with a written offer and, where possible, a representative sample. You can then test protein, fat, fibre or aflatoxin in your own lab. As a result, you know what you are buying before you commit.
