BV Holdings Agro exports Cameroon vegetable oils to refiners, soap makers, oleochemical plants and food fat processors. Our range covers two crude oils from the oil palm: crude palm oil (CPO) and crude palm kernel oil (PKO). Each lot is tested against your contract and loaded at Douala or Kribi on FOB, CFR or CIF terms.

The oil palm is native to West and Central Africa, and it grows well in Cameroon’s humid south. We source Cameroon vegetable oils from mills and crushers in the Littoral, South-West, Centre and South regions. Then we test, bulk and load each lot for export. As a result, you deal with one team from offer to bill of lading.

One honest point first. Cameroon uses much of its own palm oil for cooking and soap. So export volumes depend on season and local demand, and we confirm availability with every offer. This hub explains both oils, how to choose, and how specification, testing, shipping, documents, pricing and ordering work.

Cameroon vegetable oils at a glance

The table below compares the two Cameroon vegetable oils we offer. Each name links to its own product page, with a full typical specification and FAQ.

In short, both oils come from the same fruit, yet they behave very differently. Palm oil is a semi-solid fat used widely in food and soap. Kernel oil, by contrast, is a lauric oil that acts much like coconut oil.

Where Cameroon vegetable oils come from

The oil palm belt runs along the humid coast and into the forest zone. All Cameroon vegetable oils in our range start there.

  • Littoral: palms around Edéa, Dibombari and the Moungo area, close to Douala port.
  • South-West: large groves in Fako, Meme and Ndian.
  • South: palms in the Ocean division near Kribi, the deep-sea port.
  • Centre: smaller groves further inland.

Estates and smallholders

Supply comes from two sources. Large estates run their own mills, with steady output and good records. Smallholders, meanwhile, sell fruit to mills or press it in small village units. Both feed the export market for Cameroon vegetable oils, although quality can differ between them. For this reason, we test each source before we bulk it into a lot.

Seasons

Oil palms fruit all year, so mills work in every month. However, output rises and falls with rain and the seasons, and the peaks vary by area. So we plan export lots around the months with the best supply. Our Cameroon Harvest Calendar shows how palm fits with the other crops we ship.

How Cameroon vegetable oils are made

One palm fruit gives two oils and a feed meal. Understanding the process helps you judge quality.

Crude palm oil

CPO comes from the orange flesh of the fruit. Fresh bunches should reach the mill fast, because free fatty acids (FFA) climb once the fruit is cut. At the mill, steam sterilises the bunches. Then a drum strips the fruit, which is mashed and pressed. Finally, the oil is clarified and dried. Since CPO skips refining, it keeps its natural carotene and deep colour.

Palm kernel oil

After pressing, the hard nuts remain. Crackers break the shells and free the kernels. Crushers then dry, clean and press the kernels in screw presses, called expellers. The oil is settled and filtered. Meanwhile, the solid meal left behind becomes Palm Kernel Cake, a common feed ingredient. If you prefer to crush in-house, we also export whole Palm Kernels from our Oil Seeds range.

What the numbers mean

  • FFA: a lower figure means fresher fruit or kernels, and less loss in refining.
  • Moisture and impurities: water and dirt speed up spoilage, so lower is better.
  • DOBI: a CPO index of how easily the oil bleaches; a higher value is better.
  • Iodine value: a measure of unsaturation, which tells you how soft the fat is.
  • Lauric acid: the key value for soap and speciality fat makers buying PKO.

How to choose between Cameroon vegetable oils

The right oil depends on your product and process. These quick picks cover the most common cases.

  • Refining for cooking oil, margarine or shortening: choose crude palm oil.
  • Laundry and toilet soap: many makers blend CPO for hardness with PKO for lather.
  • Oleochemicals, such as fatty acids and surfactants: PKO for lauric chains, CPO for palmitic chains.
  • Confectionery and coating fats: refined PKO fractions are common, so start with crude PKO.
  • Red palm oil for food markets: crude palm oil, kept unrefined for its colour.

Not sure which fits? Tell us your end product and plant set-up. We will then suggest an oil, an FFA target and a shipping method. Refined PKO grades and fractions can also be quoted on request.

Quality control for Cameroon vegetable oils

The quality of Cameroon vegetable oils can change fast, so testing close to loading matters. We follow our standard checkpoints for every lot. Our quality control page sets out the full method.

  • Source in region: we buy from known mills and crushers.
  • Store: oil sits in clean tanks, protected from water and dirt.
  • Sample and test: we test FFA, moisture and impurities, plus other agreed values.
  • Bulk and prepare: we only blend sources that meet the contract spec.
  • Inspect and load: independent inspection where agreed, then loading at Douala or Kribi.

Buyers may nominate an inspection company, such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or Cotecna. They can witness loading, draw samples, test the oil, check weights and seal the tank. Therefore, you get an independent view as well as our own results.

Why FFA rises

FFA climbs when fruit waits too long before milling, or when kernels are damp. Heat and water in storage also push it up. For this reason, we favour fresh oil from well-run mills, and we test again just before loading.

How oil is sampled

Oil can settle in a tank, so one sample from the top is not enough. Instead, samplers draw oil from several depths and mix it into one composite sample. Then they split it into sealed portions for the lab, the buyer and the inspector. As a result, every party tests the same oil, and any dispute is easier to settle.

Uses and industries

Cameroon vegetable oils serve a wide set of industries. Each oil has its own strengths.

  • Food refining: CPO is refined into cooking oil, margarine, shortening and frying fats.
  • Soap and detergents: both oils are core soap feedstocks, while PKO adds strong lather.
  • Oleochemicals: fatty acids, fatty alcohols, glycerine and surfactants.
  • Speciality fats: PKO fractions go into coatings, fillings and non-dairy creamers.
  • Cosmetics: lauric oils and their derivatives appear in shampoos, creams and lotions.

So Cameroon vegetable oils can serve food, home care and chemical plants alike. For example, a soap group can buy CPO and PKO in one contract and blend them at its own plant.

Crude oil or refined oil?

Our standard offer is crude oil. Crude oil suits refiners and soap plants, which process it to their own recipe. However, smaller food makers may lack a refinery. In that case, refined, bleached and deodorised PKO grades can be quoted on request. Fractions such as palm kernel olein and stearin can also be discussed. Tell us your plant set-up, and we will be clear about which Cameroon vegetable oils we can supply in each form.

Packaging, shipping and container capacity

Unlike bagged crops, Cameroon vegetable oils ship in liquid form. We offer three options, on request.

MethodHow it worksBest for
FlexitankSingle-use bag inside a 20ft container; often about 20–22 tonnesMost container buyers
ISO tankReusable steel tank in a frameBuyers who want a rigid, sealed tank
DrumsSteel or plastic drums in a containerSmaller lots and trial orders

These loads are approximate industry norms. We confirm the figure for your lot in the offer. Palm oil turns semi-solid in cool weather, which is normal. So at discharge, buyers warm it until it flows, often with a heating pad.

Container checks matter too. Before a flexitank is fitted, the container is inspected for holes, sharp edges and dirt. Then the floor and walls are lined, and the bag is fitted with a valve and, where needed, a heating pad. After filling, the tank is sealed and the seal number goes on the documents. As a result, the oil you receive is the oil that left the port.

We load at Douala or Kribi and quote FOB, CFR or CIF.

Export documents and compliance

Each shipment of Cameroon vegetable oils travels with a full document set. The exact list depends on the oil and the destination. Our export documents page explains every document.

  • Commercial invoice and packing list.
  • Bill of lading.
  • Certificate of origin.
  • Weight and quality certificate from the agreed inspection company.
  • Lab reports, such as FFA, moisture or residues, where agreed.
  • Other certificates the destination requires, confirmed at contract stage.

EUDR and RSPO

Palm oil and palm kernel oil are covered by the EU Deforestation Regulation. The due diligence duty sits with the operator who places the oil on the EU market. The European Commission EUDR page sets out the current rules. We do not make compliance claims. However, tell us your data needs, and we will discuss what a lot can carry.

In addition, we do not claim RSPO certification for our lots. If your customers require certified oil, please say so in your inquiry. We will then be clear about what we can and cannot provide.

How pricing works for Cameroon vegetable oils

We quote per lot and per date, not from a fixed list. Vegetable oil prices move with world markets every day. Several factors shape an offer for Cameroon vegetable oils.

  • World markets: palm oil futures and the wider vegetable oil complex set the base.
  • Lauric oil markets: PKO often tracks coconut oil, since buyers can swap one for the other.
  • FFA and quality: lower FFA and better bleachability can earn a premium.
  • Local demand: strong home demand in Cameroon can tighten export supply.
  • Shipping method and Incoterm: flexitank, ISO tank or drums, plus freight and insurance.

To get a sharp offer, give us as much detail as you can. For example, state the FFA limit, DOBI or lauric acid level you need. Also name your destination port, shipping method and shipment window. A clear brief helps us match the right lot faster.

Payment terms are agreed per contract. The Food and Agriculture Organization publishes useful data on world vegetable oil markets.

How to order

Ordering follows six clear steps. Our export process page explains each one.

  • 1. Inquiry: you send the oil, FFA target, volume, port, shipping method and Incoterm.
  • 2. Offer and sample: we send a written offer and, where possible, a sample.
  • 3. Contract: we both sign the spec, price, Incoterm, payment terms, inspection method and shipment window.
  • 4. Payment security: you arrange the agreed instrument.
  • 5. Preparation and inspection: we prepare, test and inspect the lot.
  • 6. Shipment and documents: we ship, then release documents per the payment terms.

Orders for Cameroon vegetable oils start from one 20ft container, usually as a flexitank. If you are new to the origin, our How to Import from Cameroon guide explains the basics.

FAQ

Which Cameroon vegetable oils do you export?

We export crude palm oil and crude palm kernel oil. Both come from the oil palm belt in the Littoral, South-West, Centre and South regions. CPO comes from the fruit flesh, while PKO comes from the kernel. Each oil has its own product page with a typical specification. Refined PKO grades can also be quoted on request.

What is the difference between palm oil and palm kernel oil?

Palm oil comes from the soft flesh of the fruit, while palm kernel oil comes from the seed. Palm oil is red and rich in palmitic and oleic acid. Kernel oil, by contrast, is pale and rich in lauric acid. As a result, they suit different uses, although soap makers often blend the two.

How do you ship Cameroon vegetable oils?

Typical options are flexitanks, ISO tanks or drums, on request. A flexitank in a 20ft container often holds about 20 to 22 tonnes. ISO tanks suit buyers who want a reusable steel tank. Drums, meanwhile, suit smaller lots or trial orders. We confirm the method and quantity for your lot in the written offer.

What FFA level do your oils have?

Our typical FFA is 5% or lower for both oils. CPO is measured as palmitic acid, and PKO as lauric acid. Each contract sets the final limit, and we test it before loading. Lower-FFA lots can be discussed on request, subject to supply. Your inspector can also test FFA at loading for extra assurance.

Is export supply always available?

Not always. Cameroon uses much of its own palm oil and kernel oil for cooking and soap. So export volumes depend on season and local demand. For this reason, we confirm availability, volume and shipment window with every offer. Larger buyers can agree a schedule across several months to plan around supply peaks.

Are Cameroon vegetable oils covered by EUDR?

Yes. Palm oil and palm kernel oil are oil palm products under the EU Deforestation Regulation. The due diligence duty sits with the operator who places the oil on the EU market. We do not make compliance claims. However, tell us your data needs, such as plot geolocation, and we will discuss what a lot can carry.

Is your oil RSPO certified?

We do not claim RSPO certification for our lots. Many EU and UK buyers ask about RSPO, so we prefer to be clear from the start. If your customers require certified oil, tell us in your inquiry. We will then explain honestly what we can supply, so you can plan your sourcing with no surprises.

Can an inspection company check Cameroon vegetable oils before loading?

Yes. You can nominate a company such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or Cotecna. They can witness loading, draw samples, test FFA and moisture, check weights and seal the tank. Their weight and quality certificate then joins the shipping documents. This gives you an independent record of the oil you bought.
