BV Holdings Agro is a Cameroon agricultural trading and export company, and part of the BV Holdings PLC group. We buy crops in the producing regions, prepare them for export and ship them in full containers from Douala or Kribi. Our buyers are importers, commodity trading houses and food manufacturers.

This page explains who we are and how we fit into our group. It also sets out what we supply, what we do not supply and how we work day to day. In short, it is the page to read before you send your first inquiry.

Who we are: BV Holdings Agro at a glance

BV Holdings Agro is the agricultural trading and export subsidiary of BV Holdings PLC. We are based in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, and we work only with business buyers. We trade nine categories of Cameroon-origin products, from cocoa and coffee to grains, spices and industrial raw materials.

Our role is simple to describe. First, we buy from producer groups and aggregators in each region. Then we consolidate, dry, test and pack lots to an agreed specification. Finally, we load the cargo at port with full export documents. The table below sums up the key facts.

BV Holdings Agro in the BV Holdings PLC group

BV Holdings Agro sits inside a wider group. Our parent company, BV Holdings PLC, sets group strategy, governance, finance and compliance. Meanwhile, each subsidiary runs its own trade and its own buyer relationships. As a result, you get a focused trading team with group oversight behind it.

BV Cocoa Products, our cocoa division

Cocoa is a large and specialised trade, so it has its own home. BV Cocoa Products is the cocoa division of BV Holdings Agro. It covers cocoa powder, cocoa butter, cocoa liquor, cocoa nibs and other derivatives. On this site, you will still find our full cocoa products range, including cocoa beans and cocoa butter. However, the cocoa site goes deeper into processed cocoa.

BV Metal and Minerals, our sister company

BV Metal and Minerals is a sister subsidiary of BV Holdings PLC. It trades metals and minerals, not farm goods. So if your inquiry is about minerals, that team is the right contact. Both companies share the same parent and the same approach to governance and compliance.

What BV Holdings Agro supplies

We supply bulk, export-grade products in nine categories. Each category page lists the products we trade, with typical specifications and packing options. Here is the full range at a glance.

You can browse every product on our commodities page. Availability depends on the season, so we confirm stock, grade and timing in each offer.

What BV Holdings Agro does not supply

Being clear about limits saves everyone time. Therefore, here is what we do not offer:

  • Retail packs, small parcels or sub-container quantities.
  • Roasted coffee. We trade green coffee only.
  • Ground spice blends. Single-origin ground cayenne may be discussed on request.
  • Certified lots that we cannot document. We do not claim Organic, Fairtrade or Rainforest Alliance status.
  • Charcoal without the required forestry and export papers.

If a product is not on our list, we do not offer it. Instead of stretching our range, we focus on the lines we can source, check and document well.

How BV Holdings Agro works

Our model is built around three jobs: buying in the regions, preparing lots for export and shipping with clean documents. Each job has its own checks. Together, they turn many small farm lots into one even, export-ready container.

Sourcing from producer groups and aggregators

Most farms in Cameroon are small family plots. For this reason, we do not buy farm by farm. Instead, we buy from producer groups and aggregators in the producing regions. They collect crops from many farmers, and we consolidate their lots for export. This approach lets us build full containers while keeping the origin region of each lot on record.

Five quality checkpoints

Every lot passes five checkpoints before it reaches the ship:

  1. Buy in the region from producer groups and aggregators.
  2. Dry and store to target moisture, off the ground in covered warehouses.
  3. Sample and test against the contract specification.
  4. Clean, sort and pack in new export-marked bags with a lot number.
  5. Inspect and load with independent inspection and fumigation where required, at Douala or Kribi.

Tests depend on the product. For example, we test moisture and foreign matter on all lots. Cocoa gets a cut test, and coffee is graded by screen size and defects. Maize and other grains are tested for aflatoxin against destination limits. Sesame oil content and free fatty acids are tested on request. Our quality control page explains each test.

The six-step export process

Buying from BV Holdings Agro follows six steps, each with a clear owner:

Our principles at BV Holdings Agro, stated as practices

Values only matter when you can see them in the work. So rather than list nice words, here is what we actually do on every order.

  • We put the spec in writing. Every offer states the grade, packing, port, Incoterm and shipment window. Then the contract confirms them.
  • We test before we load. Each lot is sampled and checked against the contract spec before it leaves the warehouse.
  • We welcome your inspector. You can nominate a firm such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or Cotecna to check weight and quality.
  • We only claim what we can document. We do not sell certified lots we cannot prove, and we never invent labels.
  • We quote clear terms. Offers are FOB, CFR or CIF, per 20ft or 40ft container, so you can compare like with like.
  • We keep prices out of adverts. Markets move daily, so a price is only valid in a dated, written offer.
  • We respect the law on sensitive lines. For example, we ship charcoal only from legal sources with the required forestry and export documents.
  • We keep your business private. We do not publish client names, volumes or contract terms.

These practices are not extras. In fact, they are the reason buyers can plan around our shipments.

Regions where BV Holdings Agro sources

Cameroon has ten regions and a wide range of climates. As a result, we can source tree crops, highland coffee and dry-season grains from one country. The table groups the regions into four sourcing zones.

Sourcing zoneRegionsMain crops we source
Southern forest beltCentre, South, East, South-WestCocoa, Robusta coffee, palm products, natural rubber, kola, bitter kola
Coast and Moungo valleyLittoralRobusta coffee, Penja-area pepper, ginger, palm oil, cocoa, rubber
Western highlandsWest, North-WestArabica coffee, maize, soybeans, red kidney beans, ginger, turmeric, rice (Ndop plain)
Northern savannahAdamawa, North, Far NorthSesame, cotton, groundnuts, sorghum, millet, maize, soybeans, raw cashew nuts, rice (Logone plains)

Each zone has its own harvest rhythm. For instance, the cocoa main crop runs from about September to February, while northern sesame comes in from October to December. Our Cameroon harvest calendar shows the seasons crop by crop. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) also publishes useful country crop data.

Ports and logistics

We load at Douala, the country’s main port, or at Kribi, a deep-sea port in the South region. The choice depends on the product, the sourcing zone and the shipping line. Northern crops travel south by road and rail before loading. Therefore, we plan inland transport early, so the cargo reaches port inside the shipment window.

Buyers BV Holdings Agro serves

We work with three main types of business buyer. Each one needs something slightly different from an origin partner.

  • Importers and distributors who need steady lots, clear papers and fair terms for their home market.
  • Commodity trading houses who need reliable specs, inspection access and clean documents for onward sale.
  • Food and industrial manufacturers who need consistent raw materials for their own plants.

Within those groups, our buyers include many kinds of business. For example, cocoa grinders and chocolate makers buy beans and semi-finished cocoa. Roasters buy green coffee, while feed mills buy palm kernel cake and soybean meal. Spice packers buy pepper, ginger and turmeric. Meanwhile, tyre and rubber goods makers buy natural rubber, and spinning mills buy cotton lint.

Compliance for your market

Every destination has its own rules. For example, the EU sets maximum residue limits for pesticides and aflatoxin. It has also adopted the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which covers cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber and soy, among others. We discuss the origin data and documents available for each lot at the offer stage. That way, you can judge them against your own due-diligence needs.

The standard document set includes a commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading. In addition, it includes a phytosanitary certificate from MINADER plant protection and a certificate of origin. A weight and quality certificate comes from the agreed inspection company. Cocoa and coffee lots also carry an export quality certificate from the National Cocoa and Coffee Board (ONCC). See our export documents page for the full list.

What to send BV Holdings Agro in your first inquiry

A good inquiry gets a faster and more accurate offer. So, before you write, it helps to have these details ready:

  • Product and grade, for example green Robusta grade 1 or yellow maize for feed.
  • Quantity, stated in 20ft or 40ft containers, plus whether you need one load or a series.
  • Destination port and your preferred Incoterm: FOB, CFR or CIF.
  • Packing needs, such as bag type, net weight per bag or liners.
  • Tests and papers your market requires, such as aflatoxin or pesticide residue reports.
  • Shipment window, so we can match it to the harvest season.

Packing follows trade norms for each crop. For instance, cocoa beans usually ship in 62.5–65 kg jute bags, while green coffee ships in 60 kg jute bags. Maize goes in 50 kg PP bags, and sesame in 25 or 50 kg PP bags. Spices travel in 25 kg jute or PP bags, with liners where required. Final packing is always confirmed in the contract.

If you are unsure about a term, our FOB vs CIF guide explains who pays for what. The official ICC Incoterms rules are also worth a read.

We buy crops in the producing regions, prepare them for export and ship them in full containers from Douala or Kribi. We sell only to business buyers, such as importers, trading houses and food manufacturers.

How is BV Holdings Agro related to BV Cocoa Products?

BV Cocoa Products is the cocoa division of BV Holdings Agro. It focuses on cocoa powder, butter, liquor, nibs and other derivatives, and it has its own website. Our site still lists the full cocoa range, including cocoa beans, shells and cake. So you can start an inquiry with either team, and we will route it correctly.

Is BV Metal and Minerals part of the same company?

BV Metal and Minerals is a sister subsidiary of BV Holdings PLC, not a division of the agro company. It trades metals and minerals, while we trade agricultural products. Both companies share the same parent, which sets group strategy, governance, finance and compliance. For a minerals inquiry, please contact that team through its own website.

What products does BV Holdings Agro export?

We export nine categories: cocoa products, green coffee, oil seeds, vegetable oils, animal feed ingredients, cereals and pulses, spices, nuts and kola, and industrial raw materials. Each category page lists the exact products we trade. We do not supply roasted coffee, ground spice blends, retail packs or certified lots we cannot document.

Who does BV Holdings Agro sell to?

We sell to importers, commodity trading houses and food manufacturers. Within those groups, buyers include cocoa grinders, coffee roasters, feed mills, oil refiners, spice packers, cashew processors, tyre makers and spinning mills. We work in container loads only, from one 20ft container upwards. We do not sell to retail customers.

Does BV Holdings Agro hold Organic or Fairtrade certification?

No. We do not claim Organic, Fairtrade or Rainforest Alliance certification, and we do not supply certified lots we cannot document. Instead, we rely on clear specifications, pre-loading tests and independent inspection where you request it. Company registration and export documents are shared during supplier onboarding, on request, so you can complete your own checks.

Can I inspect a shipment before it leaves Cameroon?

Yes. You can nominate an independent inspection company, such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or Cotecna. The inspector can check weight, quality and packing at the warehouse or port. The inspection method is written into the contract. The agreed inspector then issues the weight and quality certificate that travels with your documents.

How do I start working with you?

Send us an inquiry with the product, grade, quantity, destination port and preferred Incoterm. We then reply with a written offer and, where needed, a sample. Once you approve, we sign a contract and you arrange payment security. After that, we prepare, inspect and ship your cargo with full export documents.
