Cameroon Soybean Meal exported to your specification
BV Holdings Agro supplies Cameroon soybean meal as a protein source for poultry, pig, fish and cattle feed. Each offer states crude protein, fat, fibre and urease activity.

BV Holdings Agro supplies Cameroon soybean meal to feed mills, integrators, traders and livestock farms in full container loads. Soybean meal is the protein-rich flake or powder left after crushers remove oil from soybeans. The beans behind it grow mainly in the Adamawa, North, West and North-West regions.
Because protein drives feed value, we state crude protein, fat, fibre and moisture in each offer. In addition, urease activity shows whether the meal received enough heat to cut anti-nutrients. So you can compare our meal with your current supply on equal terms.
This page explains where the meal comes from, typical specs, grades, testing, uses, packing, documents and pricing. We load at Douala or Kribi on FOB, CFR or CIF terms.
Where Cameroon soybean meal comes from
Cameroon soybean meal starts with beans grown by smallholders in the Adamawa plateau, the North region and the western highlands. Farmers often rotate soybeans with maize, because the legume adds nitrogen to the soil. After harvest, aggregators dry and clean the beans, then sell them on to crushing plants.
At the plant, crushers remove the oil either by pressing or with a solvent. Then they toast and cool what remains and grind it into meal. This heat step matters, because it breaks down the trypsin inhibitors in raw soy. As a result, the meal becomes safe and digestible for animals.
Supply and availability
Local crushing capacity is limited, and Cameroon’s own poultry sector uses much of the output. Therefore, export volumes depend on the season, the bean harvest and local demand. We confirm availability of Cameroon soybean meal with each inquiry, rather than promise fixed tonnage. For larger programmes, it helps to plan purchases early in the crushing season.
Bean harvests in the north arrive from about October, while highland timing follows local rains. Our Cameroon harvest calendar shows how the seasons line up. Crushers then process beans through the following months, so meal supply tends to follow the bean crop. As a result, the best time to plan Cameroon soybean meal purchases is soon after the bean harvest.
Typical specification of Cameroon soybean meal
Expeller and solvent meals differ, so the table shows both where values vary. The offer then confirms which type each lot is. Soybean meal falls under HS 2304.00 in the WCO Harmonized System.
| Parameter | Cameroon soybean meal: typical value |
|---|---|
| HS code | 2304.00 |
| Type | Expeller or solvent-extracted, by lot |
| Form | Meal or flakes, by lot |
| Crude protein | 44% to 48% solvent; 40% to 44% expeller |
| Crude fat | 1% to 3% solvent; 5% to 8% expeller |
| Crude fibre | 7% max. |
| Moisture | 12% max. |
| Ash | 7% max. |
| Urease activity | 0.05 to 0.30 pH rise |
| Aflatoxin | To your limit; tested on request |
| Colour | Light tan to light brown |
Final specifications are confirmed in each contract and verified before loading.
Crude protein is the headline figure, but fat and fibre matter too. Higher fat adds energy, while higher fibre lowers digestibility for poultry. For this reason, nutritionists look at the whole profile, not just protein.

Grades of Cameroon soybean meal and how to choose
Two main types exist, and each suits a different ration. So the right choice depends on your species, your energy needs and your formula.
- Solvent-extracted meal: the most common type worldwide. It has high protein, usually 44% to 48%, and very little fat.
- Expeller meal: made by mechanical pressing only. It has a little less protein, but more residual oil, which adds energy.
Broiler and pig nutritionists often choose solvent meal, because high protein lets them build dense rations. Expeller meal, however, suits buyers who value extra energy or want a meal made without solvents. Meanwhile, dairy and beef rations can use either type. In trade terms, meal at 46% to 48% protein is often called “hipro” meal.
When you compare offers for Cameroon soybean meal, ask four questions. First, which type is the lot? Second, what are protein, fat and fibre on an as-is basis? Third, what is the urease activity? Finally, which tests come with the shipment?
Meal or flakes
Some lots ship as ground meal, while others ship as flakes or coarse cake. Ground meal mixes more evenly in a feed plant. Flakes and cake, however, may need grinding before use. So tell us your plant set-up, and we will state the form of Cameroon soybean meal clearly in the offer.
Quality control and testing before loading
We check every lot against the contract before it moves to port. Our process follows five steps: buy in region, dry and store, sample and test, clean and pack, then inspect and load. The full method is on our quality control page.
What the lab measures
- Crude protein: measured by the Kjeldahl or Dumas method.
- Crude fat and fibre: show energy value and digestibility.
- Moisture: high moisture leads to caking and mould in transit.
- Ash and sand: high ash or acid-insoluble ash points to soil or dust in the meal.
- Urease activity: a quick check that the meal had enough heat.
- Protein solubility in KOH: a check that the meal did not have too much heat.
Under-heated and over-heated meal
Heat must be just right. Under-heated meal keeps active trypsin inhibitors, so animals digest protein poorly. Over-heated meal, by contrast, loses lysine and other amino acids. Therefore, buyers pair a urease test with a KOH solubility test, which typically sits around 73% to 85% for good meal. Together, these two figures show whether Cameroon soybean meal was processed well.
Common quality problems explained
- Caking: lumps from damp or warm storage, which slow mixing and can hide mould.
- Dark colour: often a sign of over-toasting, which lowers amino acid value.
- Raw, beany smell: often a sign of under-heating, so the urease figure may be high.
- High sand: soil picked up with the beans, which shows as high acid-insoluble ash.
Each problem has a clear test. Therefore, we report these figures separately for Cameroon soybean meal, so you can judge the lot yourself.
Feed safety tests on request
Feed buyers often ask for more than nutrient tests. For example, labs can test Cameroon soybean meal for aflatoxin, salmonella and pesticide residues. We agree each test, method and limit in the contract. In addition, you can nominate an inspection company such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or Cotecna to sample the lot and witness loading.
Uses of Cameroon soybean meal in animal feed
Soybean meal is the main protein meal in compound feed worldwide, as data from the FAO also shows. It suits almost every farmed species.
- Poultry: the core protein in broiler and layer feeds.
- Pigs: balanced amino acids for piglets, growers and finishers.
- Fish: plant protein for tilapia and catfish feeds.
- Dairy and beef: a protein top-up in mixed rations.
- Pet food: a plant protein in dry pet foods.
Soybean meal is rich in lysine, an amino acid that cereals lack. For this reason, nutritionists pair it with maize, such as our yellow maize. In poultry diets, methionine is usually the first limiting amino acid, so mills add it as a supplement.
Fish farms are a growing market too. Tilapia and catfish feeds use plant protein to replace part of the costly fishmeal. Soybean meal fits this role well, because its amino acid profile is strong and its supply is steady. However, fish feed makers often want finer grinding and low fibre, so tell us your target.
Typical inclusion rates
In broiler feeds, soybean meal often makes up roughly a quarter to a third of the ration. Layer and pig feeds usually use less, while fish feeds vary by species. However, exact rates depend on the formula and the other ingredients. So ask your nutritionist how much Cameroon soybean meal suits each ration.
Soybean meal or palm kernel cake?
Some buyers weigh Cameroon soybean meal against cheaper meals. Palm kernel cake, for example, has much less protein but more fibre, so it suits ruminants better than poultry. Our guide on palm kernel cake vs soybean meal compares the two side by side. You can also view our palm kernel cake offer.

Packaging, loading and container capacity
We ship soybean meal in new 50 kg polypropylene bags, marked for export with a lot number. Other bag sizes are possible by agreement. Loading takes place at Douala or Kribi in clean, dry, odour-free containers.
- 20ft container: about 18 to 20 MT of bagged meal, depending on bag size and form.
- 40ft container: about 25 MT, which often lowers freight cost per tonne.
- Fumigation: carried out where the buyer or destination requires it, with a certificate.
- Protection: kraft paper lining or desiccant on request, to limit condensation at sea.
Meal can cake when it gets damp or warm. Therefore, we check moisture again before loading and record it on the quality report.
Storage and handling at destination
Store Cameroon soybean meal off the floor and away from walls in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Stack bags so air can move between them. Also use older stock first, and check for warm spots or lumps each week. In humid seasons, plan to use the meal within a few months of arrival.
Export documents and compliance for Cameroon soybean meal
Every shipment travels with a full document set. We prepare the papers with the exact type, weight and HS code, and release them according to the payment terms in your contract.
- Commercial invoice and packing list
- Bill of lading
- Phytosanitary certificate from MINADER plant protection
- Certificate of origin
- Weight and quality certificate from the agreed inspection company
- Fumigation certificate where required
- Lab reports for protein, aflatoxin, salmonella or residues, where agreed
EU rules: EUDR, feed safety and GMO labelling
Soya and soybean meal are covered by the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Under it, EU operators must file a due diligence statement with geolocation data for the plots where the beans grew. So EU buyers of Cameroon soybean meal should ask early which traceability data we can supply for a given lot. We describe what we can document, and we never claim more.
EU feed law also sets a limit of 20 µg/kg aflatoxin B1 for feed materials. In addition, the EU requires labelling of feed with more than 0.9% authorised GM material. Many other countries need a feed import permit, which your importer usually holds. Some also ask for a health or veterinary statement, a fumigation treatment or an extra declaration on the phytosanitary certificate. So please share your import rules early, and we will check each point before loading. Our export process page explains each step.
How pricing works
We do not publish fixed prices, because soybean meal prices move every day. Instead, we quote Cameroon soybean meal per metric tonne for each container lot, with the Incoterm and port named.
- World market: soybean meal futures in Chicago act as a global reference.
- Big crops abroad: soybean harvests and crushing in Brazil, Argentina and the United States shape supply.
- Local supply: bean harvests and crushing in Cameroon, plus local feed demand.
- Quality: protein level, type and tests such as aflatoxin.
- Incoterm and freight: FOB, CFR and CIF each include different costs.
What makes an offer for Cameroon soybean meal competitive? Usually, it is the mix of protein, processing quality, timing and freight. For example, a well-toasted meal with a clear lab report may save you rework later. Likewise, a 40ft container can lower freight cost per tonne.
Buyers often compare offers on cost per unit of protein, not just per tonne. For example, a 46% meal may be better value than a 44% meal at a slightly higher price. Our FOB vs CIF guide also explains what each term covers. Payment terms are agreed per contract, for example a letter of credit or documentary collection.

Cameroon soybean meal FAQ
What protein level does Cameroon soybean meal have?
Solvent-extracted meal typically has 44% to 48% crude protein. Expeller meal, by contrast, usually has 40% to 44%, with more residual oil. Each offer states the type and the protein figure for that lot. A lab can then confirm protein on the sample before you sign the contract.
What does urease activity tell me?
It shows whether the meal received enough heat during processing. A low value, usually 0.05 to 0.30 pH units, means trypsin inhibitors are under control. However, a very low value can also hint at over-heating. So buyers often pair it with a KOH protein solubility test for a full picture.
Is Cameroon soybean meal available all year?
Supply follows the bean harvest and local crushing, and Cameroon’s poultry sector uses much of the output. Therefore, export volumes vary through the year. We confirm availability and timing with each inquiry. For regular programmes, it helps to plan early in the crushing season and agree staged shipments.
Which HS code applies to soybean meal?
Soybean meal and other solid residues from soybean oil extraction fall under HS 2304.00. Most customs offices use this code at six digits, while national tariffs add more digits for duty rates. The code appears on our invoice and certificates. Please confirm your national tariff line with your customs broker.
Can you test for aflatoxin and salmonella?
Yes, at your request. An independent lab can test samples for aflatoxin, salmonella and pesticide residues before loading. We agree the lab, method and limits in the contract. As a result, the lab reports travel with the shipping documents, so your own feed safety checks run more smoothly.
What is the minimum order?
The minimum order is one 20ft container, which holds about 18 to 20 MT of bagged meal. Larger orders can ship in several 20ft or 40ft containers. A 40ft often lowers freight cost per tonne. We agree volumes and shipment timing in the contract, so stock arrives in line with your plan.
Can I get a sample before I order?
Yes. After your inquiry, we send a written offer and a sample from the lot on offer. You can test it in your own lab or through a third party. In addition, we keep a reference sample, so both sides can compare the shipment with the approved quality later if needed.
Which Incoterms and ports do you offer?
We quote FOB Douala or Kribi, CFR to your destination port, or CIF to your destination port with minimum cargo insurance. FOB suits buyers who hold their own freight contracts. CFR and CIF, meanwhile, suit buyers who want us to book the vessel. Each offer states the Incoterm and port clearly.
