Cameroon Crude Palm Oil exported to your specification
We export Cameroon crude palm oil (CPO) to refiners, soap makers and food plants. Flexitanks, ISO tanks or drums are available on request, with loading at Douala or Kribi.

BV Holdings Agro supplies Cameroon crude palm oil to refiners, soap makers, oleochemical plants and food processors. The oil palm is native to West and Central Africa. In Cameroon, it grows mainly in the Littoral, South-West, Centre and South regions.
We source CPO from mills in these regions, then check each lot against the contract before loading at Douala or Kribi. You deal with one team from offer to bill of lading. In addition, an independent surveyor can sample the oil at your request.
Cameroon also uses a lot of its own palm oil for cooking and soap. For this reason, export lots of Cameroon crude palm oil depend on season and local demand. We confirm availability, volume and the shipment window with each offer. If you already know your needs, you can request a quote right away.
Where Cameroon crude palm oil comes from
The oil palm belt runs along the humid coast and into the forest zone. In the Littoral, palms grow around Edéa, Dibombari and the Moungo area. In the South-West, the main zones are Fako, Meme and Ndian. Meanwhile, the South Region has palms in the Ocean division near Kribi, and the Centre has smaller groves inland.
Supply comes from two sources. Large estates run their own mills, with steady output and good records. Smallholders, by contrast, sell fruit to mills or press it in small village units. Both feed the Cameroon crude palm oil that reaches the export market.
Oil palms fruit all year, so mills work in every month. However, output rises and falls with the seasons, and the peaks vary by area. Rain, labour and road access all play a part. So we plan export lots around the months with the best supply.
Mills in the Littoral and South-West sit close to Douala, which keeps road haulage short. Oil from the South can also load at Kribi, the deep-sea port in the Ocean division.
How crude palm oil is made
CPO comes from the soft orange flesh, or mesocarp, of the palm fruit. Speed matters, because the fruit starts to break down as soon as it is cut. Fresh bunches should reach the mill fast, ideally within a day or two. Otherwise, free fatty acids (FFA) climb and the oil loses value.
- Sterilise: steam stops the enzymes that raise FFA and loosens the fruit.
- Thresh: a drum strips the fruit from the bunch.
- Digest and press: the fruit is mashed and then pressed to release the oil.
- Clarify: the oil settles and separates from water, fibre and dirt.
- Dry: a vacuum dryer cuts moisture to keep the oil stable.
The hard nuts left after pressing go on to make palm kernels. So one fruit feeds two oils and a feed meal. Since CPO skips refining, it keeps its natural carotene and its deep red-orange colour.
Village presses often give oil with higher FFA and more moisture, because the fruit waits longer and drying is basic. Industrial mills, meanwhile, control heat and time more closely. For this reason, we test each source before we bulk it into a lot of Cameroon crude palm oil.

Typical specification of Cameroon crude palm oil
The values below are normal for export-grade Cameroon crude palm oil. Each offer then states the exact limits for that lot.
| Parameter | Typical value |
|---|---|
| HS code | 1511.10 |
| Free fatty acids (as palmitic) | ≤ 5% |
| Moisture and impurities | ≤ 0.5% |
| DOBI | ≥ 2.3 |
| Iodine value | 50–55 |
| Slip melting point | 33–39 °C |
| Carotene | 500–700 ppm |
| Colour | Red-orange |
| Packaging | Flexitank, ISO tank or drums, on request |
Final specifications are confirmed in each contract and verified before loading.
FFA shows how fresh the fruit was and how well the mill handled it. Lower FFA means less loss in refining. DOBI, meanwhile, predicts how easily the oil will bleach. A low DOBI often points to old or overheated fruit. Moisture and impurities, finally, affect both storage life and the weight you pay for.
Grades and how to choose
Most buyers order standard CPO with FFA of 5% or lower. That grade suits most refiners and soap makers. However, some buyers want a tighter limit. Lower-FFA lots can be discussed on request, subject to supply and price.
- Standard CPO: FFA up to 5%, for refining and soap.
- Lower-FFA lots: for refiners who want a smaller refining loss, on request.
- Unrefined red palm oil for food: for importers who serve West and Central African cuisine, subject to food safety checks in your market.
So which grade fits you? First, look at your process. A physical refinery cares most about FFA and DOBI. A soap plant, by contrast, can work with a wider range. Then match the grade to your destination rules, since food use brings stricter testing. Colour also matters to some buyers. A deep red oil shows high carotene, which food importers often like. Refiners, by contrast, remove the colour during bleaching, so they look at DOBI instead. If you are unsure, send us your current spec and we will compare it with our lots of Cameroon crude palm oil.
Quality control of Cameroon crude palm oil before loading
We test every lot of Cameroon crude palm oil against the contract before it ships. First, we draw samples from the storage tank and during loading. Then a lab checks the points below.
- FFA: titration shows the free fatty acid level, as palmitic acid.
- Moisture and impurities: heating and filtering show water and dirt.
- DOBI: a light test shows how well the oil will bleach.
- Iodine value: this shows the balance of saturated and unsaturated fat.
- Colour and smell: the oil should be red-orange, with no burnt or rancid smell.
Most faults trace back to slow transport, poor storage or overheating. For example, fruit left too long before milling gives high FFA. Overheated oil, meanwhile, shows a low DOBI and a dull colour. Water in the oil speeds up spoilage at sea. For this reason, we check tanks, lines and the flexitank or ISO tank before filling.
You can also nominate an inspection company such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or Cotecna. They can witness loading, draw samples, check weights and seal the tank. Our quality control page explains how we sample and test each lot.
On request, we can also keep a sealed and labelled sample from each lot. If a question comes up after arrival, both sides can then test the same oil.

Uses and industries
Most CPO goes to refineries first. There, it becomes refined palm oil, palm olein and palm stearin. In addition, many buyers use crude oil directly in non-food lines. The main buyers of Cameroon crude palm oil are listed below.
- Refiners: feedstock for RBD palm oil, olein and stearin.
- Soap makers: a firm, low-cost fat base for bar and laundry soap.
- Oleochemical plants: fatty acids and glycerine.
- Food processors: frying fats, margarine and shortening after refining.
- Food importers: red palm oil for West and Central African cooking.
Palm oil is semi-solid at room temperature, so it suits fats that must hold their shape. It is also stable when heated, which makes it popular for frying. In soap, Cameroon crude palm oil gives a hard bar that lasts. Soap makers often blend it with kernel oil, which adds lather. We also ship palm kernel oil from the same fruit. You can browse all vegetable oils for other options.
Packaging, loading and container capacity for Cameroon crude palm oil
Typical export packaging options for Cameroon crude palm oil are flexitanks, ISO tanks or drums, on request. Each option suits a different buyer and volume.
- Flexitank: a single-use bag inside a 20ft container, often holding about 20 to 22 tonnes of oil.
- ISO tank: a reusable steel tank in a frame, with a cleaning certificate before filling.
- Drums: for smaller or trial lots, with less oil per container.
For most buyers, a flexitank is the simplest way to ship Cameroon crude palm oil, since the bag needs no return trip. CPO turns semi-solid in cool weather. So many buyers order a flexitank with a heating pad, or an ISO tank with steam coils. At the destination, the oil is warmed until it flows, and then it is pumped out. Plan this step early, since it affects your discharge time and cost.
Before filling, we check that the container floor and walls are clean, dry and free of sharp edges. Then the tank loads at Douala or Kribi. We quote FOB, CFR or CIF, so you can choose who books freight and insurance. Our FOB vs CIF guide explains the difference. You can also follow each stage on our export process page.
Export documents and buyer requirements for Cameroon crude palm oil
Each shipment of Cameroon crude palm oil travels with a full set of papers. The standard set is listed below.
- Commercial invoice and packing list.
- Bill of lading.
- Certificate of origin.
- Phytosanitary or other plant health papers, where the destination asks for them.
- Weight and quality certificate from the agreed inspection company.
- Lab reports, such as FFA, DOBI or contaminants, where agreed.
EU buyers face extra rules. Palm oil falls under the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Under it, the operator who places the oil on the EU market must file a due diligence statement. That needs the geolocation of the land where the fruit grew. It must also show no deforestation after 31 December 2020, and legal production. We do not make EUDR compliance claims. Instead, tell us your data needs in your inquiry, and we will say what we can provide for that lot.
Many buyers also ask about RSPO, the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil. We do not claim RSPO certification for our lots. So if your customers require RSPO-certified oil, raise it at the inquiry stage. We will then tell you plainly what we can and cannot document.
EU food buyers also watch process contaminants, such as 3-MCPD and glycidyl esters. These form mainly during refining, so refiners manage them in their own plants. Other markets, such as the UK or the Middle East, set their own import rules, which we agree per contract. The FAO also publishes useful data on palm oil trade.
Storage and arrival care
Good handling at the destination protects the value of Cameroon crude palm oil. Keep storage tanks just warm enough for the oil to pump, and avoid overheating. High heat raises FFA and lowers DOBI. Also, keep the oil away from copper and brass fittings, since these metals speed up oxidation. Finally, keep tanks dry and closed, because water and air shorten shelf life. If you plan to store oil for a long time, tell us at the offer stage, so we can discuss the spec that suits your plan.
How pricing works for Cameroon crude palm oil
We do not publish fixed prices, because the oil market moves every day. Many palm oil contracts refer to the Bursa Malaysia palm oil futures or to CIF Rotterdam quotes. A seller then prices the origin, quality and freight against that base.
Several points shape each offer for Cameroon crude palm oil:
- FFA, DOBI and the other quality limits.
- Volume and the number of containers.
- Packaging: flexitank, ISO tank or drums, and any heating option.
- Incoterm: FOB, CFR or CIF, plus freight and insurance.
- Season, local demand and the shipment window.
- Extras, such as lab tests or third-party inspection.
Price, payment terms and the shipment window are then agreed in the contract. So the offer you receive matches your spec, volume and port, rather than a list price.
Freight is a big part of the landed cost of oil. So the choice between FOB, CFR and CIF can move your final price more than a small FFA difference. Tank and heating costs also add up, so compare offers on the same packaging basis.

Cameroon crude palm oil FAQ
What FFA level does your Cameroon crude palm oil have?
Our typical FFA is 5% or lower, measured as palmitic acid. Each contract sets the final limit, and we test it before loading. Lower-FFA lots can be discussed on request, subject to supply. If FFA matters for your refining loss, tell us your target in the first inquiry.
How do you ship crude palm oil?
Typical options are flexitanks, ISO tanks or drums, on request. A flexitank in a 20ft container often holds about 20 to 22 tonnes. ISO tanks suit buyers who want a reusable steel tank. Drums suit smaller or trial lots. We load at Douala or Kribi.
Is your palm oil RSPO certified?
We do not claim RSPO certification for our lots. Many EU and UK buyers ask about RSPO, so we prefer to be clear from the start. If your customers require RSPO-certified oil, tell us in your inquiry. We will then explain plainly what we can and cannot document for that lot.
What about EUDR for Cameroon crude palm oil?
Palm oil falls under the EUDR. The due diligence duty sits with the operator who places the oil on the EU market. We do not make compliance claims. However, tell us your data needs, such as plot geolocation, and we will say what supply-chain information we can provide.
Why does CPO turn solid?
Palm oil holds a high share of saturated fat, so it turns semi-solid in cool weather. This is normal and does not harm the oil. At discharge, buyers warm it until it flows, often with a heating pad or steam coils. So plan heating when you book the tank.
What is the minimum order?
The minimum order is one 20ft container, usually as a flexitank. We quote FOB, CFR or CIF from Douala or Kribi. Larger buyers can order several containers. In that case, we can agree a shipment schedule in the contract, subject to supply in each season.
Can an inspection company check the oil?
Yes. You can nominate a company such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or Cotecna. They can witness loading, draw samples, test FFA and moisture, check weights and seal the tank. Their weight and quality certificate then travels with the other shipping papers.
Do you also sell palm kernel oil?
Yes. We also export crude palm kernel oil, palm kernels and palm kernel cake. Palm kernel oil comes from the seed rather than the flesh, and it is rich in lauric acid. So soap and food fat makers often buy both oils from the same origin in one inquiry.
