Vietnam is a processing nation. It has more cashew processing capacity than any other country, spins large volumes of imported cotton and runs a big animal feed industry. Much of the raw material for these plants comes from abroad. As a result, Vietnamese buyers look at many origins, and Cameroon can be one of them.

This page explains which of our products fit Vietnamese factories, how the trade rules work, how cargo moves and what papers your importer will need. It also covers timing and the steps to place an order.

What Vietnamese buyers source from Cameroon

Demand on the Cameroon to Vietnam route comes from three kinds of plant. First, cashew factories in the south need raw nuts in shell all year. Next, spinning mills need cotton lint with steady fibre data. Finally, feed mills need energy and protein ingredients such as maize, soybean meal and palm kernel cake.

Pepper is a smaller but interesting line. Vietnam is the world’s leading pepper exporter, yet it also imports pepper for processing and re-export. Cameroon pepper from the Moungo valley can fit that trade when the grade and price suit.

We only offer products from our own list. Each product page has a typical specification, packing details and FAQ. You can also browse by category, such as nuts and kola, animal feed ingredients or spices.

Products in demand for Cameroon to Vietnam shipments

The table lists the products we most often quote from Cameroon to Vietnam. Buyer types describe the Vietnamese market in general, not our client list. HS codes are shown at six digits; your customs broker confirms the full Vietnamese tariff code.

In short, cashew is the main product, and the rest depend on price against other origins. Feed ingredients are price-driven, so we quote them on clear terms per container and per shipment window. If you are comparing the two feed proteins, ask us for both typical specifications side by side.

Cotton lint for Vietnamese spinners

Vietnam’s yarn and garment sector relies on imported cotton. In 2025, for example, Vietnam became the largest buyer of US cotton. Cameroon lint offers mills another origin to blend in. It is grown in the North, Far North and Adamawa regions and picked by hand, which tends to keep trash levels low. For Cameroon to Vietnam cotton, we share HVI data per lot, including staple length, micronaire and strength. Your mill can then check the fibre against its spinning plan before it commits.

Feed ingredients for Vietnamese feed mills

Vietnam’s pig, poultry and aquaculture farms need large volumes of compound feed. So feed mills buy imported maize and protein meals to balance their rations. Cameroon yellow maize is tested for moisture and aflatoxin against your limits. Soybean meal is offered with protein, fibre and moisture values per lot. Palm kernel cake is a lower-cost energy and fibre source, often used for cattle and pigs. Because feed margins are thin, every Cameroon to Vietnam feed offer states the basis clearly, including bags or bulk liner and the shipment window.

Pepper and sesame

Vietnamese pepper processors clean, grade and re-export pepper from several origins. Cameroon black and white pepper from the Littoral region can suit that trade, with density, moisture and other key values agreed per lot. Sesame is a smaller line for roasters, oil mills and traders. We test it for purity, moisture and, on request, oil content.

Raw cashew nuts: why Vietnam matters for Cameroon to Vietnam trade

Vietnam leads the world in cashew processing capacity. According to Vietnam Customs figures reported by Viet Nam News, the country imported more than 2.9 million tonnes of raw cashew nuts in 2025. Domestic farms cover only about a tenth of what the factories need. The rest comes mainly from Africa and Cambodia.

That makes Cameroon to Vietnam cashew a natural fit. Our nuts come from the North and Adamawa regions, where the harvest runs from about February to May. Vietnamese factories judge each lot on a few numbers:

  • Kernel outturn ratio (KOR): pounds of kernel per 80 kg bag, which sets the factory’s yield.
  • Nut count: nuts per kilo; lower counts mean bigger nuts and larger kernel grades.
  • Moisture: dry nuts keep better in a warm, humid voyage and in storage.
  • Defects: spotted, immature, shrivelled or empty nuts found in the cut test.

We cut-test every lot and share the results before you sign. Our raw cashew nut KOR guide explains how KOR is measured. In addition, an independent inspector can draw and seal samples, so your factory can compare its own test with the loading report.

Cameroon to Vietnam trade relationship and market access

Vietnam has many free trade agreements, but none with Cameroon. So Cameroon to Vietnam cargo is normally charged Vietnam’s standard (most-favoured-nation) duty for each tariff line. Rates differ widely by product, and some raw materials carry low or zero duty. Therefore, ask your customs broker to confirm the current rate for your exact HS code.

Plant quarantine in Vietnam

Plant products entering Vietnam are subject to plant quarantine. Circular 14/2024/TT-BNNPTNT, in force since 15 December 2024, lists the articles that are liable to quarantine. It also lists a smaller group that needs a pest risk analysis before import, such as planting material and fresh fruit. Dried commodities such as raw cashew, cotton and grains are not on that pest-risk list, but they are still inspected.

The quarantine rules focus on pests, not on product quality. So a lot can pass quarantine and still fall short of your contract. That is why we treat the phytosanitary certificate and the quality certificate as two separate checks, and we plan both before loading.

In practice, each lot needs a phytosanitary certificate from Cameroon. Vietnam’s plant protection authority then inspects the cargo at the port of entry. Your importer files the quarantine declaration and arranges the inspection.

Food safety and feed rules

Food and feed imports can also face food safety or feed quality checks. The rules can differ when raw materials are imported for processing rather than for direct sale. For this reason, your importer should confirm which checks apply to each product before the lot ships. We can add lab reports, such as aflatoxin tests on maize and feed ingredients, where agreed.

Shipping from Cameroon to Vietnam: ports, containers and transit

We load at Douala or Kribi. Most sailings from Cameroon to Vietnam tranship at a hub port, often in Asia. The shipping line confirms the routing at booking.

We can quote CFR or CIF to Vietnam’s main ports, for example:

  • Ho Chi Minh City (Cat Lai): the main entry point for southern Vietnam, close to the largest cashew processing zone.
  • Cai Mep–Thi Vai: a deep-water port in the south-east that handles large container ships.
  • Hai Phong: the main port for northern Vietnam, near many textile and feed plants.
  • Da Nang and Quy Nhon: for central Vietnam, quoted on request.

Transit on the Cameroon to Vietnam route is typically a few weeks, confirmed at booking. Raw cashew ships in new 80 kg jute bags, at about 17 to 18 tonnes per 20ft container. Cotton bales are light for their size, so 40ft containers usually give better freight value. Maize, soybean meal and palm kernel cake usually go in 20ft or 40ft units, in bags or bulk liners by agreement.

Humidity is the main risk on this route. Warm, damp air in a closed box can cause condensation, which harms nuts, pepper and feed. So we dry lots to the agreed moisture, use clean and dry containers, and add liners or desiccants where the contract asks for them.

Import documents for Cameroon to Vietnam cargo

Vietnamese customs and quarantine officers check that every paper matches. So we agree the document set and wording in the contract, before booking.

Certificate of originAuthorised Cameroon bodyCustoms records and origin checks
Weight and quality certificateAgreed inspection companyMatching the lot to the contract
Fumigation certificateLicensed fumigation providerWhere the importer or rules require it
Lab reportsAgreed laboratoryAflatoxin, residue or nutrient tests where agreed

For cashew, the weight and quality certificate usually records the KOR, nut count, moisture and defects found at loading. Vietnamese factories often test again on arrival. So it helps to agree in the contract which test method applies, and how any difference between the two results is handled. On Cameroon to Vietnam cashew, we suggest naming the inspection company, the sampling method and the tolerance in writing. That way, both sides know the rules before the nuts leave Douala or Kribi.

These papers describe the lot; they do not replace inspection in Vietnam. For the full list, see our export documents page.

Incoterms that suit buyers in Vietnam

We quote FOB, CFR and CIF for Cameroon to Vietnam contracts. Each one moves cost and risk at a different point.

  • FOB Douala or Kribi: suits large cashew and feed buyers with their own freight contracts. You book the ship; we deliver on board.
  • CFR Vietnamese port: we book freight to Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong or your chosen port. You insure the cargo locally.
  • CIF Vietnamese port: we add minimum cargo insurance, which can help when a bank needs an insurance document under a letter of credit.

Freight rates to Asia can move quickly. On CFR or CIF, each offer states the freight basis and how long the offer is valid, so you can compare it with your own quotes. For regular Cameroon to Vietnam programmes, such as monthly cashew or feed loads, we can also agree how freight changes are handled between shipments.

Payment security is agreed in the contract, for example a letter of credit or documentary collection. Ask us for a side-by-side cost comparison of the three terms for your port. The ICC Incoterms rules give the official wording.

When to buy: seasons for Cameroon to Vietnam cargo

Cameroon’s dry north and humid south give each crop its own window. Our Cameroon harvest calendar shows every product by month. For Vietnamese buyers, the key dates are:

  • Raw cashew nuts: harvest about February to May; export lots easiest from March to July.
  • Cotton lint: picking October to January; ginned lint ships mainly January to June.
  • Black and white pepper: harvest November to March; lots easiest January to May.
  • Sesame: harvest October to December; lots easiest November to March.
  • Maize: northern crop September to November, southern crops July to August and November to December.
  • Palm kernel cake: available all year, subject to local demand.

So plan Cameroon to Vietnam cashew contracts as the crop starts, while the best lots are still open. Feed ingredients and cotton, by contrast, often work best as a programme spread over several months.

Cameroon to Vietnam FAQ

What do you ship from Cameroon to Vietnam?

We quote raw cashew nuts, cotton lint, yellow maize, soybean meal, palm kernel cake, black and white pepper, and sesame seeds. Other products on our list can be offered too. Each has a typical specification, and the final specification is confirmed in each contract and verified before loading.

Is there a trade agreement for Cameroon to Vietnam cargo?

No. Vietnam has no free trade agreement with Cameroon, so its standard duty rates normally apply. Rates vary a lot by product, and some raw materials carry low or zero duty. Your customs broker should confirm the current rate for your exact HS code before you agree a price.

Do raw cashew nuts need a pest risk analysis for Vietnam?

Under Circular 14/2024/TT-BNNPTNT, the pest risk analysis list covers items such as planting material and fresh fruit, not dried raw cashew. However, the nuts are still subject to plant quarantine. Each lot needs a phytosanitary certificate, and it is inspected at the Vietnamese port of entry.

How do you check KOR before shipping?

We draw samples from the lot and run a cut test. This gives the KOR, nut count, moisture and defect rate. We share the results before you sign. You can also appoint an independent inspector to sample the lot, so your factory can compare its own test fairly.

Which Vietnamese ports do you quote?

We quote CFR or CIF to Ho Chi Minh City (Cat Lai), Cai Mep–Thi Vai and Hai Phong, plus Da Nang and Quy Nhon on request. Most sailings tranship at a hub on the way. The shipping line confirms routing and transit time at booking, and the contract sets the shipment window.

How long does shipping from Cameroon to Vietnam take?

Transit is typically a few weeks, confirmed at booking. It depends on the carrier, the transhipment port and the season. In addition, allow time for inland transport to Douala or Kribi, inspection and loading. We state the shipment window in the contract, so you can plan factory intake.

What is the minimum order?

The minimum order is one 20ft container. For raw cashew, that is about 17 to 18 tonnes in 80 kg jute bags. Larger orders can ship over several containers or as a programme. For light cargo such as cotton lint, a 40ft container usually gives better freight value.

Are your products certified organic or Fairtrade?

No. We do not claim organic, Fairtrade or Rainforest Alliance certification. Instead, we describe quality through typical specifications, test results and independent inspection. If your buyer needs a certified supply chain, tell us early, and we will be clear about what we can and cannot provide.
