Shipping farm goods from Cameroon to the UAE gives Gulf importers, re-exporters and food makers direct access to West and Central African crops. BV Holdings Agro is a Cameroon export trading house based in Yaoundé. We supply sesame, coffee, cocoa products, spices, pulses and legally sourced charcoal, loaded at Douala or Kribi.

The UAE is more than a consumer market. Dubai and Abu Dhabi also act as trading hubs for the Gulf, South Asia and East Africa. So many of our UAE buyers hold stock and resell it. For that reason, we keep offers simple: a typical specification, clear packing, and documents that work for both local sale and re-export.

This page explains the Cameroon to the UAE trade step by step. It covers the products in demand, market access, the sea route, UAE import rules, Incoterms, seasons and ordering. For other destinations, see our export markets overview.

Spices and coffee lead most Cameroon to the UAE inquiries we expect. However, sesame and pulses suit wholesale traders well. Browse our Cameroon spices and Cameroon green coffee ranges for full detail.

Why traders use the Cameroon to the UAE route

The UAE sits between Africa, Asia and Europe. Its ports have fast transhipment links across the Gulf and the Indian Ocean. As a result, a lot landed in Dubai can be split and resold to several markets.

Cameroon, in turn, grows a wide mix of crops in one country. The forest belt gives cocoa and Robusta. The western highlands give Arabica. Meanwhile, the North and Far North give sesame, and the Moungo valley gives pepper. So a UAE trader can source several lines from one supplier.

  • Re-exporters: one origin, many lines, flexible packing.
  • Spice packers: African pepper, ginger, turmeric and chili for blends.
  • Roasters: Arabica and Robusta from the same country.
  • Food makers: sesame for tahini and halva, and cocoa for bakery.

Who sends Cameroon to the UAE inquiries? Mostly general trading companies, spice and pulse packers, coffee roasters and food factories. Some buy for local sale, while others buy for re-export. Tell us which, because it can change the documents and labels you need.

Trade relationship and market access: Cameroon to the UAE

There is no free trade agreement in force between Cameroon and the UAE. Therefore, goods are cleared under the standard customs rules the UAE applies as a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Your customs broker confirms the duty for each HS code.

Ties are growing, however. In June 2026, Cameroon’s trade minister and the UAE ambassador met in Yaoundé to discuss closer trade links. They examined a proposed investment partnership agreement and agro-industry projects in cocoa, coffee, cotton and palm oil. Nothing had been signed at that stage, so we make no claim of preferential duty.

Many traders also use UAE free zones, such as Jebel Ali Free Zone, to store and re-export goods. Free-zone rules differ from mainland rules. So check with your broker or free-zone authority before the goods sail.

Shipping route from Cameroon to the UAE

Every Cameroon to the UAE cargo leaves from Douala or Kribi. Douala is Cameroon’s main port and handles more than half of the country’s sea trade. Kribi is the country’s only deep-sea port. We quote from the port that gives the better sailing for your lot.

The main UAE arrival ports are Jebel Ali in Dubai and Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi. Sharjah’s ports can also be quoted on request. Most services call at a transhipment hub on the way. Transit on the Cameroon to the UAE route is typically a few weeks, and the carrier confirms the schedule at booking.

Containers and cargo care

Bagged sesame, coffee, beans and spices travel in 20ft or 40ft dry containers. Heavy cargo usually fills a 20ft box by weight. Charcoal and other light cargo often suit a 40ft box, because they fill space before weight.

Gulf heat is a real risk. Containers can sit on hot quays before release, and moisture can condense inside the box. So we dry each lot to target moisture before packing. Where the contract asks, we also line boxes with kraft paper and add desiccants.

Arrival and release

Once the ship lands, your clearing agent takes over. The agent files the customs entry, books any inspection and arranges delivery. Delays often come from small paper errors rather than the goods themselves. So we send draft documents for your review before the vessel sails. That way, your agent can flag a wrong name, weight or code while it is still easy to fix.

UAE import rules and registrations

UAE food rules work at two levels. Federal rules set the framework, while each emirate runs its own port controls. So the right steps depend on where your Cameroon to the UAE cargo lands and who imports it.

Federal level

Food products sold in the UAE must be registered on the federal system known as ZAD. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) also controls plant products at the border. For release, MOCCAE asks for a certificate of origin, a phytosanitary certificate from the exporting country, the bill of lading and an invoice or product list.

Emirate level

  • Dubai: Dubai Municipality handles food registration and consignment release for local sale or re-export.
  • Abu Dhabi: the Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) runs its own import route.
  • Other emirates: each receiving authority sets its own release steps.

Labels and halal

Retail food in the UAE needs Arabic labelling, often added as a supplementary sticker. Bulk bags for repacking are treated differently, so ask your authority what applies. Halal rules are product-specific. They matter most for meat and some ingredients, and less for plain seeds, beans and spices.

Charcoal is not a food, so it follows a different route. Even so, the UAE expects proof of origin. We ship only legally sourced hardwood lump charcoal with the required Cameroon forestry and export documents.

Export documents for Cameroon to the UAE shipments

We prepare a full document set for each contract. The list depends on the product, the emirate and your payment terms. Our export documents and compliance page explains each paper.

  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • Bill of lading
  • Phytosanitary certificate (MINADER plant protection)
  • Certificate of origin
  • Weight and quality certificate from the agreed inspection company
  • Fumigation certificate, where required
  • ONCC export quality certificate for cocoa and coffee
  • Lab reports for aflatoxin, pesticide residue or microbiology, where agreed

UAE authorities check that documents match the cargo. Therefore, product names, weights and lot numbers must agree on every page. We review the full set before release, which helps your clearing agent avoid delays.

Quality checks for the Cameroon to the UAE trade

Gulf buyers often test spices and seeds on arrival. So the lot must meet the spec when it lands, not just when it leaves. Our process is built for that. You can read the full method on our quality control page.

  1. Buy in region: we source from producer groups and aggregators.
  2. Dry and store: lots reach target moisture in covered warehouses, off the ground.
  3. Sample and test: we test moisture, foreign matter and the contract parameters.
  4. Clean, sort and pack: goods go into new export-marked bags with a lot number.
  5. Inspect and load: independent inspection and fumigation where required, then loading.

For sesame, we can test oil content and free fatty acids on request. For grains and pulses, we test aflatoxin against your destination limit. In addition, you can nominate SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or Cotecna to inspect the lot before loading.

Incoterms for the Cameroon to the UAE route

We quote FOB, CFR and CIF. Each term splits cost and risk differently, so choose the one that fits your freight set-up.

IncotermWhat we coverBest for
FOB Douala or KribiGoods loaded on your vesselTraders with their own freight deals
CFR Jebel Ali or Khalifa PortSea freight to the UAE portBuyers who insure under their own policy
CIF Jebel Ali or Khalifa PortFreight plus minimum cargo insuranceBuyers who want one landed-port price

Large Dubai traders often hold freight contracts, so FOB can work well for them. However, many smaller importers prefer CFR, because it gives one clear price to Jebel Ali. Remember that CIF cover is minimum insurance, so you may want to top it up. Our FOB vs CIF guide explains the choice, and the ICC Incoterms rules give the official terms.

Packaging and bag marks for Cameroon to the UAE cargo

Packing is fixed in the contract. So you get bags that suit your warehouse, your repacking line or your next buyer. For the Cameroon to the UAE trade, these are the usual formats:

  • Sesame seeds and red kidney beans: 25 or 50 kg PP bags.
  • Green coffee: 60 kg jute bags.
  • Spices: 25 kg jute or PP bags, with liners where required.
  • Cocoa powder and butter: lined bags or cartons, as agreed.
  • Charcoal: sacks of an agreed net weight.

Every bag is new and carries export marks with a lot number. As a result, you can trace any bag back to its test report. Re-export buyers often ask for neutral marks, while local buyers may want their own brand. Tell us your choice at inquiry, and we will print the marks during packing.

How pricing works on the Cameroon to the UAE route

We do not publish prices, because they move with the market. Instead, every offer is built for one lot, one port and one shipment window. Several things shape the number you see:

  • World prices: cocoa and coffee follow futures markets, while spices and sesame follow trade demand.
  • Grade and spec: cleaner or larger grades cost more to prepare.
  • Incoterm: CFR and CIF include freight, and CIF adds insurance.
  • Freight rates: rates to Jebel Ali change with fuel and demand.
  • Volume and timing: a full container in season is easier to price.

So the clearer your inquiry, the sharper our offer for the Cameroon to the UAE route. Payment terms are agreed per contract, never assumed.

Cameroon to the UAE FAQ

What can I import from Cameroon to the UAE?

We supply sesame seeds, green Arabica and Robusta coffee, cocoa powder, cocoa butter, black and white pepper, ginger, turmeric, dried chili, red kidney beans and legally sourced hardwood charcoal. These lines suit UAE traders, packers, roasters and food makers. Each product has its own page with a typical specification, and we confirm the final spec in each contract.

Is there a trade agreement between Cameroon and the UAE?

No free trade agreement is in force. In June 2026, the two governments discussed a proposed investment partnership agreement, but nothing had been signed at that time. So goods clear under the standard customs rules the UAE applies. Ask your broker to confirm the duty for your HS code.

Which UAE ports do you quote?

We quote CFR or CIF to Jebel Ali in Dubai and Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi. Sharjah’s ports can be quoted on request. Most sailings call at a transhipment hub on the way. The carrier confirms the route and timing at booking, and we share those details with you before loading.

Do I need to register food products in the UAE?

In most cases, yes. Food sold in the UAE must be registered on the federal ZAD system, and each emirate runs its own release steps. For example, Dubai Municipality handles registration and release in Dubai. As the importer, you or your agent manage this, while we supply the export documents.

Which documents does MOCCAE ask for?

For plant products, MOCCAE asks for a certificate of origin, a phytosanitary certificate from the exporting country, the bill of lading and an invoice or product list. We issue the phytosanitary certificate through MINADER in Cameroon. Lab reports and inspection certificates can be added where your contract asks for them.

Can I buy charcoal from Cameroon to the UAE?

Yes, we supply hardwood lump charcoal from legal sources only. Each lot carries the required Cameroon forestry and export documents. We do not ship charcoal we cannot document. Charcoal is light, so it often suits a 40ft container. We confirm the expected load and packing in each offer.

How long does shipping from Cameroon to the UAE take?

Transit is typically a few weeks. It depends on the carrier, the transhipment hub and the season. We do not promise exact day counts, because schedules change. Instead, we confirm the expected sailing and arrival dates at booking and keep you updated.

Can I buy for re-export from the UAE?

Yes. Many UAE traders resell to other markets. Tell us your plan at inquiry stage, because it can affect packing, bag marks and documents. For example, a re-export buyer may need a certificate of origin that shows Cameroon clearly. We then prepare a document set that works for both steps.
